Words I Live By

My mother used to always tell me, "Cae, you must remember that small minds discuss people, average minds discuss events, and great minds discuss ideas." She was the perfect example of putting others first; she lived her own motto "people are the most important thing" so beautifully.
On a recent dinner date with two of my closest friends, I shared this advice I had received from my mother.  A week later, one of those friends gave me a birthday gift and I opened it once I got to my room.  As I unwrapped the tissue paper, my heart raced and my smile grew to its maximum.  There in front of me was the advice of my mother.  It hangs next to my door and I read it every morning before I begin my day. This simple reminder of my mother, what matters most, and the friends who remember keeps me thinking positively.
